the first and last tracks on this release are recordings of the actual process of producing this sleeve. the first track is a recording of this recycled paper stock being milled at the räpina paberivabrik. many thanks to mihkel peedimaa for making this possible. the last track is a recording of that stock being letterpressed with these words at studio.tartuensis. many thanks to lemmit kaplinski for making that possible. we are very proud to be able to produce this object with local materials in collaboration with local artisans.

outer sleeve notes:

framework500 celebrates the 500th edition of framework radio, which broadcast in february, 2015. all works have been donated by the artists. many thanks to them for making this possible.

framework is a show consecrated to field-recording, and its use in composition. our goal is to present not only the extremely diverse sound environments of our world, but also the extremely diverse work produced by the artists who choose to use these environments as their sonic materials. we hope to ask this question: can field recording be presented as a single style or genre, or is it in fact as uncontrollable and undefinable an instrument or tool as any, that may be interpreted, manipulated, and appropriated by anyone with a microphone and an idea? these works are its definition, and not vice versa.

open your ears and listen!
