Handmade/Homemade self-released CDr in a slimlime jewel case + artwork and liner notes, only available at their concerts and from their website.

Track 1: The first song we recorded for "In The Air" and then the one we left off. Requires a basic knowledge of quantum mechanics.
Track 2: A grand tableau of the hangover. Recorded for "Nothing Left To Lose", a Kris Kristofferson tribute CD from Incidental Music.
Track 3: Inspired by John Cage, Brett used to get inside pianos, stick screwdrivers and nails under the strings and then 'rock out'. Recorded on a Walkman in 1984.
Track 4: A (Bill Monroe) song of such tragic beauty it induces nervous laughter. Originally released on Bloodshot's "Down To The Promised Land".
Track 5: 4-track demo. A melody stolen from the Civil War song, "To See Ten Thousand Fall". Who knows where the soldiers stole it from.
Track 6: Someone traded Brett a crappy cello for a crappy guitar. Here's the result.
Track 7: Originally appeared on Bloodshot's "Poor Little Knitter On The Road" (Knitters tribute, song written by A. Delmore).
Track 8: Originally part of "Uncut's" Rolling Stones issue. Brett recorded this all in one night, without whiskey or drugs. Inspired by Red Sovine, the truck-driving Shakespeare.
Track 9: When we heard the Louvain Brothers sing this (traditional) song it changed our lives forever. This version was recorded with Jon Langford's Pine Valley Cosmonauts for "The Executioner's Last Songs" (Bloodshot), a benefit CD for the anti-death penalty movement.
Track 11: A demo recorded on 4-track, late at night, many years ago. The wind played harmonica on our back door.
Track 12: Traditional. A beautiful woman sacrificed to a vicious river god.
Track 14: She tried for years to conquer her fear of water. This song almost made it onto "Twilight", but without any snow, parking lots or birds, it just would not fit.
Track 15: A demo recorded in a Chicago loft where the only private room was the bathroom. Brett did a lot of his vocals in there.
Track 17: Rennie's family told her that Santa Claus started World War II. This recording was found on a 10-year old 4-track cassette- ah, sweet analog sound.
Track 18: Inspired by the el tracks that thundered outside our apartment and the great love between Chicagoans and sausage.
