"Before the sound of the beep". An exhibition-journey retracing the itinerary of the parisian galleries of the Marais at the time of their August closing. A journey without starting or end point wich one can take any direction 24 hours a day.
From Galerie des Archives to Renos Xippas gallery, with Brownstone & Cie, Claire Burrus, Crousel Robelin - Bama, Jennifer Flay, Froment-Putman, Laage-Salomon, Sylvana Lorenz, MA Galerie, Gabrielle Maubrie, Ghislain Mollet-Viéville, Roger Pailhas, Claudine Papillon, Gilles Peyroulet, Rizzo, Thaddeus Ropac, Samia Saouma, Rüdiger Schöttle, Anne de Villepoix and Urbi et Orbi galleries.

"Before the sound of the beep". A presence at a time of absence. During a summer of cultural tourism, this show can be seen without having to displace yourself, just by telephoning. A way to confront yourself directly and intimately with works of art. A mean of re-giving time to experience a moment of distraction.

"Before the sound of the beep". Each artist has created an original sound work (excepted "Bang Bang" sung by Martin Kippenberger, produced by Forumstadtpark in Graz) for the telephone answering machine of a gallery, replacing the usual informative message.
By dialing, during the entire month of August 1993, the numbers given, you automatically get one of the sound works of the artists.
