Notes

A few months before recording for Supreme the McShann band with Witherspoon recorded a number of sides for Modern Records, these were eventually released as either by the Al Wichard Sextett or Hootie McShann's Orchestra.
The other sides on this collection come form various Sessions between 1949 -1953 with fine accompaniment by bands led by Buddy Floyd and Maxwell Davis.
Modern also recoded Witherspoon live at Gene Normans "Just Jazz" concerts at Pasadena. On these numbers he was backed by the bands of Roy Milton and Gene Gilbeaux.
